Introduction

The Angela Webster Education Trust was the brainchild of her husband, Andrew.

The hundreds of mourners that attended Angela's funeral donated £3,300, and a further £2,200 was raised at the charity's official launch on 28th April 2007.

Please see a copy of an article appearing in the Cambridge Evening News on Friday 27th April 2007 publicising the launch of the charitable trust, which took place on the following day.

Prior to the launch, the trustees had sent an email to parents of all current students of the foundation schools, regarding the setting up of the charity.

From this, two parents volunteered and organised an ‘Auction of Promises' evening which took take place at Parkside on Friday 22nd June 2007. This event was also a huge success.

Thank you to everybody who has been involved, and to everybody who has made contributions.

It is the intention of the trustees to meet each school term to assess whether any further fundraising events are required. The meetings will also consider and approve applications made by students from the City of Cambridge Education Foundation for grants from the charity. It will be open to any student to apply directly to the charity for funds. Please note that two of the trustees are members of staff at the Parkside Federation - Andrew Hutchinson is the Principal and Jennifer Griffiths is a teacher at the school. The current students of the City of Cambridge Education Foundation are aware of the establishment of the trust and arrangements will be made for a notice board regarding the charity to be set up at both schools. In addition, heads of department within the schools will be encouraged to nominate students to the charity who they know require funds, in order to participate in a school trip or for extra curricula music lessons. Grants shall be made by the charity on behalf of a student either to the student's school or in the case of music lessons directly to the assigned and approved music teacher. No child or minor relative of any of the trustees of the charity (current or future) shall be entitled to apply for grants from the charity. None of the current trustees have a child or minor relative that is a student of either school.
